There are 16 Foundations of Faith in the “Foundations Adult” Bible Engagement Project Class:

Foundation 1: WE BELIEVE the Bible is the verbally inspired and only infallible (incapable of being wrong) and authoritative (having authority over beliefs and conduct) written Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15–17; 2 Peter 1:21).

Foundation 2: WE BELIEVE there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 14:16–17).

Foundation 3: WE BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to the earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years (Matthew 1:23; John 1:1; Philippians 2:9–11).

Foundation 4: WE BELIEVE man and woman were created good and upright in the image of God. However, sin entered the world by their voluntary disobedience leading to humankind’s separation from God both physically and spiritually (Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 5:12–19).

Foundation 5: WE BELIEVE the only means of being cleansed from sin is through the precious blood of Christ. We receive access to that by having faith in Jesus, repentance, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit for personal salvation (Luke 24:47; John 14:6; Romans 8:16; Titus 3:5).

Foundation 6: WE BELIEVE that the Bible directs all believers to participate in water baptism by immersion and in Holy Communion (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:26).

Foundation 7: WE BELIEVE that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to believers who ask for it. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of new birth. Spirit baptism gives believers power to live and serve God and gifts to fulfill the mission of the Church. With the baptism in the Holy Spirit comes experiences such as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, a deepened reverence for God, an intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work, and a more active love for Christ, for His Word, and for the lost (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4, 8; 2:4).

Foundation 8: WE BELIEVE that the first sign a believer has been baptized in the Holy Spirit is that he or she has spoken in a language that was not learned and was given by the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:4–10, 28).

Foundation 9: WE BELIEVE in the sanctifying work of Jesus at salvation to dedicate us to God and the power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life (Romans 12:1–2; Galatians 5:16–25; 1 Peter 1:15–16).

Foundation 10: WE BELIEVE that the Church is the body of Christ and has a fourfold purpose: to evangelize the world, to worship God, to equip believers for ministry, and to perform acts of love and compassion (Mark 16:15–16; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:12–28; 14:12; Ephesians 1:22–23; 2:22; 4:11–16; Hebrews 12:23).

Foundation 11: WE BELIEVE a divinely called and scripturally ordained leadership ministry serves the Church to fulfill the fourfold purpose of evangelism, worship, spiritual growth, and acts of love and compassion (Mark 16:15–20; Ephesians 4:11, 16).

Foundation 12: WE BELIEVE that the work of Christ on the Cross provides healing of the human body (Isaiah 53:4–5; James 5:14–16; 1 Peter 2:24).

Foundation 13: WE BELIEVE in the Blessed Hope—the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming (1 Corinthians 15:51–52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Titus 2:11–14).

Foundation 14: WE BELIEVE in the second coming of Christ, which is our Blessed Hope, and which includes the rapture of the Church followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on the earth for one thousand years (Isaiah 11:6–9; Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27, 30; Revelation 1:7; 19:11–14; 20:1–6).

Foundation 15: WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to judgment and everlasting damnation (Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43–48; Revelation 20:11–15).

Foundation 16: WE BELIEVE that Christ is preparing a new heavens and new earth for all people who have accepted Him, that will be for all time (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21; 22).
